Under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007, clients must appoint a CDM Co-ordinator if the project is notifiable to the Health and Safety Executive. It may be beneficial even in non-notifiable projects to seek advice as clients have duties on all projects.
What is notifiable?
Any construction work that is not done for a domestic client that is expected to last more than 30 days or 500 man hours.
The CDM Co-ordinator must be appointed as early in the process as possible and prior to any design other than the initial schematics. The primary function of the CDM Co-ordinator is to provide advice to the client to enable him to discharge his duties under the 2007 Regulations.
